Water intake at Amcorp Liang 2x10MW Mini Hydro Power Plant, Pahang

19 November 2020, Raub - Amcorp Properties Berhad (Amprop)'s Mini Hydro Power Plant located at Liang River, Pahang, Malaysia won ASEAN Renewable Energy Project Award 2020 for the "On-Grid (National Grid)" category. The Amcorp Liang 2x10MW Mini Hydro Power Plant was selected by ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) as the winner, for exhibiting originality, providing market-based solutions and environmental benefits, and making significant socio-economic contributions. The awards ceremony held on 19 November 2020, was part of the ASEAN Energy Business Forum 2020 (Virtual) officiated by Vietnam’s Prime Minister, H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc and participated by 10 ASEAN Energy Ministers.

The power plant comprises two schemes, where 10 megawatt (MW) hydro power plant is located upstream of the Liang River, and another 10 MW hydro power plant is located downstream of the river. Both power plants achieved their Initial Operation Date in the second half of 2018.

This is the 2nd time Amprop won this award, the first time was in 2012, when its 4MW mini hydro power plant at Perting River, also in Pahang was selected the winner by ACE. The Amcorp Perting mini hydro power plant was later upgraded to 6MW in 2015.

Besides the hydro power plants, Amprop also owns and operate another award winning solar power plant in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.

Combined, Amprop’s hydro and solar power plants generate approximately 130 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of green energy per year.
