SEREMBAN, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir unveiled the Tunku Arishah Sports Arena (TASA) at Kolej Tunku Kurshiah (TKC) in Bandar Enstek near here, Saturday.

Present at the ceremony were Tunku Ampuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Aishah Rohani Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud, Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin ibni Tuanku Muhriz, Tunku Zain Al-'Abidin ibni Tuanku Muhriz and AmBank Group Chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim.

TASA, named after Azman's wife, features a spectator pavilion, a hockey pitch and an eight-lane 400-metre running track complete with accessories such as hurdles, starting block and discus netting among others, which are pending certification from the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF).

The pavilion will also have a seating capacity of 308 seats.

Azman made a personal contribution of RM4.157 million via the Azman Hashim Foundation, a non-profit organisation for the construction of the sports arena.

In his speech, Azman, who is also Trustee of Azman Hashim Foundation, said TASA would benefit and meet the needs of a large community of TKC both students and staff for their recreational needs.

He said from the safety aspect, it would be beneficial to them as they did not have to travel out of the boarding school and sporting events could even be held within the confines of the school.

"With the completion of TASA, I am delighted that students can concentrate fully on excelling in both, their studies and sports in order for TKC to produce well-rounded individuals," he said.

To complete the arena, the Azman Hashim Foundation will also fund the construction of a multi-purpose hall costing RM490,000 which will be named the Azman Hashim Multi-Purpose Hall.

The foundation was also contributing an additional RM10,000 to assist 100 students under the 'Pelajar-pelajar Projek Khas Kolej Tunku Kurshiah', where such student would receive RM100 to support their financial needs.

At the same function, Azman launched AmBank ATM at TKC, its first in a school or college in the country.

AmBank also installed a merchant terminal at TKC to enable debit card acceptance for the convenience of cashless payment at the school cafeteria and school co-operative bookshop.
